ABOUT

JOCELYN'S EDUCATION

I did an Arts Degree at Sydney University with majors in Performance Studies and Human Geography (with a bunch of political economics, psychology and philosophy of Science along the way).

In 2002, I completed a Diploma of Secondary Education (with teaching methods of Geography and Drama) at UNSW and started teaching full time in 2003.

In 2007, I started a Graduate Diploma of Psychology at Sydney University part-time over several years and then was accepted into the NSW Department of Education’s School Counsellor Re-training Program and completed a 4th year post-graduate Diploma of Psychology at the University of Wollongong in 2009.

I became a fully registered psychologist with AHPRA in early 2013 and a board endorsed supervisor of provisional psychologists in early 2016.

I am currently enrolled in a Masters of Applied Science with the Faculty of Health Science at Sydney University (on a part-time basis), which I expect to complete in 2018. This might turn into a PhD, we’ll see! My research is looking at teenagers perceptions of their own ability and efficacy to monitor their technology use.

THE BASICS

I’m a Sydney-based registered psychologist with a special interest in the psychology of technology. I have over 13 years experience in public education as both a teacher and school counsellor.  In 2013 I created Digital Nutrition™ to help guide best-practice, balanced tech use and healthy relationships with digital devices. I have built a media profile and I regularly comment in the media on a range of issues and present to various groups about the impacts of technology and digital wellbeing. In my private practice I see individuals.
